Tricia Hutton
Tricia is a graduate of the Australian National University, having completed a Bachelor of
Arts in 1977 and a Bachelor of Laws with Honours in 1979. Tricia also holds the degrees of Master
of Laws from the University of Sydney in 1987 and of Master of Arts from the University of New
South Wales in 1989.
She has practised extensively in the area of commercial litigation since being admitted to
practice in 1980. Tricia specialises in trade practices, insurance law, leasing disputes, commercial
cases, government liaison and compliance.
She is a former lecturer in litigation at the College of Law and continues to lecture on
a part-time basis. Tricia is the co-author of the Enforcement, Remedies and Defences chapter
in CCH Australia Ltd's Trade Practices Reporter. She is also the author of a number of
papers on trade practices issues, mediation and trial work and has participated in a number
of seminars run by IBC, ICM and the College of Law.
Past cases include as examples:
- acting as advocate in the Industrial Relations Commission, District Court, Local Court,
Supreme Court and Federal Court.
- trade practices litigation.
- leasing and property disputes.
- professional indemnity insurance litigation acting for insured.
- participating as client representative in a number of mediations.
- probate applications including Family Provision Act and contested cases.
- personal injury claims for plaintiff and defendant.
- commercial insurance disputes for insurer and insured.
