Ross MacDonald

Ross is a graduate of the University of Sydney as a Bachelor of Laws. Ross is an experienced commercial and property lawyer. He has particular expertise in the field of dispute resolution and is a member of the Law Society's Specialist Accreditation Mediation Advisory Committee. He also practices in Employment Law and Industrial Relations.

Mediation

  • Conducting mediations and assisting clients participating in mediations and dispute resolution generally in all areas.

SIGNIFICANT RECENT WORK

Mediation

  • Mediation of major commercial disputes involving multi-parties
  • Farm debt mediations involving banks and large farms
  • Many mediations of retail lease disputes involving major shopping centres and various tenants
  • Mediation of disputes under the Family Provisions Act
  • Assisting a major insurance company as a party to a multi party dispute involving amounts in excess of $20 million

Property

  • Acting on the acquisition and subsequent development of a major residential and commercial site including the preparation of contracts for sales off-plan and specific leases for commercial units
  • Reviewing service contracts and general involvement in the acquisition of major hotel sites
  • Acting for a corporate client in complex financing transaction of approximately $40 million to develop a major retail outlet

Industrial Relations

  • Advising a subsidiary of a major insurer in relation to employment issues and personal appearances in the Industrial Relations Commission
  • Negotiating directly (generally on behalf of employers but occasionally for employees) in unfair dismissal claims
